Our client contacted us when she was told by her employer that they could no longer afford to employ her as a nanny. Just three weeks earlier she had informed the employer that she was pregnant. She strongly suspected that the redundancy was a sham. We helped her to pursue a claim of pregnancy discrimination in the Employment Tribunal. Our client contacted us because she had been sexually harassed by her boss. It was a small company, operating from one site, and the role required daily contact with the owner. Our client could not envisage being able to work with him ever again. We helped her to negotiation a highly satisfactory termination of employment package, and thus she avoided the need for tribunal proceedings.
Our client broke his arm while on holiday. The nature of the injury necessitated several operations. At the time of his dismissal, except for two brief episodes of re-deployment, he had been on sick leave for 14 months. We helped him to appeal against dismissal and also to serve an Equality Act Questionnaire on the employer. His appeal was successful and he was offered a suitably adjusted role in a new department.
