Family Advice

The Bureau operates from two main offices; our office in the High court, in the Strand and our office in the Principal Registry of the Family Division, based in High Holborn.

Because of its location in the Family Courts, our High Holborn office also has a Pro Bono Family Advice Service staffed by Family Law Solicitors from local City firms.

Lawyers specialising in Family Law provide advice and assistance in the following ways:

  1. Providing advice on all areas of Family Law including Adoption, Abduction, Care Proceedings, Children, Court Procedure, Divorce, Domestic Violence, Mediation and Property.
  2. Drafting court documents where appropriate.

Family Law advice sessions are available on Mondays, Wednesday and Thursdays subject to the availability of advisers.

    1. Morning sessions are from 10.00 to 1.00pm and afternoon sessions are from 2.00pm to 5.00pm.
    2. Our Holborn Office operates on a “First Come First Served Basis” and only the first four clients will be seen per session.  Due to limited resources we cannot guarantee that clients will be seen on the day. The Bureau does not represent clients as such and will not go on the record for them. If a client needs representation, the Bureau may refer the case to the Bar Pro Bono Unit (who may or may not accept it), or a participating firm may elect to take the case on itself on a pro bono basis.
