London Legal Walk – Monday 19th May 2008
London Legal Support Trust

On May 19th, 3,500 lawyers, their friends and colleagues took part in the 4th London Legal 10k Sponsored Walk.
The RCJ Advice Bureau fielded a team of around 30 walkers, including our youngest and probably, most photogenic walker at 10 months old. Bureau team members sported the Bureau’s 30th Anniversary t-shirts to mark 30 years of providing a range of specialist advice services to litigants in person at the High Court and Court of Appeal.

Despite threatening weather, 3,300 hardy souls walked in London with 200 more in Guildford and Newbury, raising an amazing £310,000.
The London Legal Support Trust supports the work of social welfare legal centres in London and the Home Counties. Funds raised are targeted to assist requests for help from the centres. This financial aid helps the legal centres overcome funding crises, develop new services, support appeals and improve their premises.
The Walk provides significant funding for the Bureau, and we would like to thank all our friends who supported us by walking or giving sponsorship in 2008.
Lead walkers included:
The Rt. Hon the Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers, the Lord Chief Justice
The Rt. Hon Sir Anthony Clarke, the Master of the Rolls
The Rt. Hon the Baroness Scotland of Asthal Q.C., H.M. Attorney General
Sir Ken Macdonald, Director of Public Prosecutions
Andrew Holroyd OBE, President of the Law Society
Timothy Dutton Q.C., Chairman of the Bar Council
Lesley Graham, President of ILEX
