An example of our help

Our client contacted us in a distressed state as their mortgage lender had issued a possession claim against them in a County Court for mortgage arrears. The client had fallen into debt after having to pay some funeral costs, and the household income had been reduced when their partner was made redundant.

We looked into any benefits the client may be able to claim, and helped them draw up a financial statement; this set out in details their reduced income and necessary expenditure. Using this, we were able to negotiate with the mortgage lender, and persuaded them to accept a repayment plan which was within our client’s budget.

At the Bureau’s request, the mortgage lender also agreed to capitalise the remainder of the arrears after six months, provided that our client makes the agreed monthly repayments during that period.
