If you are experiencing domestic abuse, there are lots of ways that we can help you.

Finding Legal Options for Women Survivors (FLOWS)

Our domestic abuse service, Finding Legal Options for Women Survivors (FLOWS) is delivered by our Family Law team, in partnership with Rights of Women and a number of law firms across England and Wales.

How we can help:

  • FLOWS is a women and girls only service (for other services please see CourtNav and SupportNav below).
  • We can help survivors who have experienced domestic abuse and would like to apply to court for protective orders in the family court.
  • We provide free legal advice over the telephone or email to advise survivors on the best steps to take to protect themselves.
  • We can advise you on the likelihood of success in your court application.
  • We also provide advice and resources for front-line professionals in Women’s Refuges, Women’s Aid, and organisations that provide safe environments to disclose abuse, for example, local Citizens Advice services, law clinics, and court-based services.
  • Front-line professionals can also access our support tools, including our telephone and email advice, as well as by using the FLOWS forum which is hosted by our FLOWS partners, Rights of Women.
  • We can signpost you to local support with other legal matters or practical support by using our FLOWS map.

Applying for an injunction or order through CourtNav

CourtNav is an online tool designed to help survivors of domestic abuse, of any sex or gender, across England and Wales with completing an application form to apply to the family court for a protective injunction or an order to say who lives in the family home. These are called non-molestation orders and occupation orders.

You will be set up with an online account to then complete some easy to understand questions. Once you submit your form, your case will be collected by one of your chosen firms. All of these firms offer legal aid and will check your legal aid eligibility.

Whether you are eligible for legal aid or not, you will be advised by either your allocated law firm or a CourtNav team member.

If an application to the court for these orders is not assessed as being appropriate, you will be advised on the best next steps for you and signposted to services that will be able to help you.

How to contact us:

We are contactable every weekday from 9am to 5pm. You can start an application on CourtNav at any time.
