The London Legal Walk 2024

RCJ Advice staff once again participated in the annual London Legal Walk on 18th June 2024. Hosted by the London Legal Support Trust, the London Legal Walk seeks to raise vital money for front line organisations that provide free legal advice. Over it’s 20 year history, more than £10.5 million has been raised in support of pro-bono legal services.

Four members of our team completed the 10km walk alongside the Lady Chief Justice, The Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill, as well as thousands of others seeking to raise money for front line services.

RCJ Advice raised £445, starting the walk at 4:30pm and finished around 7:30pm to attend the celebratory street party on Carey Street. During the walk we ran into peers from other local Citizens Advices and shared details of our service with other charities, firms and organisations.

The funding gap for legal advice has nearly doubled to over £30 million in the UK and free legal advice providers are at breaking point with the growing need from their clients. Many people cannot afford legal help and without more being done, they will go without justice when they need it most. Initiatives like the Legal Walk are vital for providing much needed financing of these services and raising awareness of the need for more investment and action to support the ever-growing needs of our clients.
